Different Types of Diet Pills

There are many types of diet pills available for weight loss. Some of these, such as stimulants, have been around for many years. Others that more specifically address appetite control or blocking nutrients are much newer.

Stimulant Diet Pills

Stimulants have been used for ages to aid in weight loss. They speed up your metabolism so that you burn more calories and they give you more energy so that you might be more prone to exercise and burn off even more calories. Herbs such as Guarana have been used for ages, and in modern times caffeine pills have been used for decades. Pseudo-ephedrine was very popular in the 1990's, but laws were changed so that it now sold behind the counter at pharmacies (this was primarily result of the fact that it could be used to manufacture amphetamines in garage-based speed labs.) Stimulants also suppress appetite to a certain degree, but another class of diet pills has targeted this more directly.

Appetite Suppressant Weight Loss Pills

Diet pills such as Slimaluma Caralluma Fimbriata and Hoodia Gordonii are cactus-like plants that have been used for ages in India and Africa to control appetite. Tribesmen going on hunts or journeys would take pieces of the cactus with them and nibble upon it as they went to suppress their appetite. In the last decade or so these plants have been converted and extracted to a modern diet pill.

For many people, controlling their appetite and food urges is the toughest part of dieting. Appetite suppressants such as Caralluma Slimaluma can be very beneficial in these instances.

Carb Blocker and Fat Blocker

Carb blockers and fat blockers are used to block the absorption of particular nutrients once the enter the digestive system. People who are more concerned about carbs in their diet would take the carb blocker, and people more concerned about fat in their diet would take the fat blocker (it is sort of a matter of philosophy on which is of most concern).

With these diet pills, you can still eat your regular meals and food, but the absorption of calories is impeded by various means. For example, with phase 2 carb blockers, there is a compound in the weight loss pill that neutralizes the enzymes that digest carbs. Once this enzyme is neutralized, many of your carbohydrates pass out of your body undigested.

The Best Weight Loss Diet Pill

The best pill is whichever works best for you. Stimulants work for many people, but others think they are harsh and lose their effectiveness over time. Appetite suppressants can be effective, but many people eat for reasons other than hunger (habit, boredom, depression, etc...). Nutrient blockers work if you keep eating regular meals, but some people may start eating more to compensate for the calories not being absorbed.
